Care and use of your PIRIT Heated Hose®
IMPORTANT: This hose is for normal farm and garden use and light commercial use only.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Simply unroll the hose to use just as you would a normal garden hose.
2. Screw the female end (near the electrical cord) of the hose onto your faucet. Make sure the washer is in place inside the female coupling.
3. Plug the 3-prong cord into a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) or a properly-grounded 3-hole outlet that is protected by a GFCI.
4. The heater is thermostatically controlled and will not turn on unless the ambient temperature approaches freezing temperatures.
5. It is good practice to drain and unplug the hose when not in use to extend the lifetime of the hose.
6. If water is frozen inside the hose, allow several minutes for the ice to melt after plugging in the hose and before use.
7. DO NOT pull or tug the hose with excessive force as this may damage the fittings and electronic components.
CAUTION
1. To insure continued protection against electric shock, connect to properly grounded outlets only.
2. This hose is NOT designed to provide freeze protection to your water supply. Be sure to take appropriate measures to protect your water supply.
3. This hose is an appliance and should be respected and treated as such.
4. To extend the lifetime of the hose, unplug and drain the hose, and remove attachments when not in use.
5. Have a qualified electrician install a properly grounded receptacle outlet, acceptable for outdoor use and protected from snow and rain, immediately adjacent to the location where the hose will be used.
6. Route the supply cord and locate the hose so as to prevent damage by livestock.
7. Do not attempt to uncoil or bend the hose when it is frozen. First plug in the hose and allow it to warm before uncoiling or bending.
8. To avoid possible overheating, do not leave hose coiled when plugged in.
9. Do not leave plugged in while hose is coiled as this can cause the hose to overheat and melt.
WARNING
1. Read all instructions.
2. Inspect the cord before using.
3. Do not use extension cords.
4. Do not immerse the plug.
5. Store indoors after winter season.
6. Connect only to a circuit that is protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). A GFCI is a sensitive device that cuts off the electricity if there is any leakage of current. A GFCI may be obtained from any electrician or hardware store.
IMPORTANT—THERMOSTAT MUST BE EXPOSED TO AMBIENT TEMPERATURE. The thermostat on your PIRIT Hose is located at the end of the electric cord attached to the male (waterout) end of the hose. This thermostat must be exposed to the ambient or outside temperature in order for the PIRIT Hose to work properly.
When you set up the hose for use, be sure the thermostat is not in a heated environment or in an insulated compartment of any kind.
